Quite the Romantic
|
So one day this dude steps to me
And upon rejection
He
says, "You don’t give
Romance
A fair chance"
But the fact is
I’m quite the romantic
It's just the One whose charted my heart’s path
Is really kind of matchless
From His Genesis to Revelations
I mean even the woes of His Lamentations
Move me
So for someone else to woo me
You gotta come correctly
See
I want someone to court me
Spit truths like Paul in Phillipians 1:3
Stand flat footed locked eyes and say he thanks God upon every remembrance of me
Now that’s deep
Peep
I want someone to go beyond the external
Beyond the superficial and physical to something eternal
That extension of what I give to God and what He gives to me
The he that makes me wanna draw nearer to the Trinity
That’s the type of brother you gotta be
Cuz see
I’m not looking for a part time lover
That’s not the way I get down
I want somebody that’s gonna be around
20 years from now
Someone who sees the future with my first name joined to his last
Sees that old American dream and me as a part of his math
I’m talking
2 car garage, 2.5 children all totaling oneness
With the one that's looking for a lifetime of the ups and downs of marital bliss
Not the someone to jump ship when he no longer feels like he’s feeling this
And it’s not that I’m conceited
I’ve just conceded
That I’m created with purpose
So I can’t lose focus
By wasting time and space
Given all of me just to take
Up seconds, minutes, hours, days, in others words to aimlessly date
When in reality if we ain’t looking at whether God has set us aside to be each others lifetime mate
What would we actually be doing
You claim you ain’t just casually step to me
Ain’t here cuz you tryna get w/ me
So please explain to me
What exactly are you pursuing
Don’t get me wrong, I ain’t rushing down the aisle
Trekking any dude between pews
Picking out dresses or mentally writing the vows before our I dos
Because quite honestly
I’ve already discovered my worth so it’s now up to someone to find me
I’m just telling you plainly
That I’m a Proverbs 31:10 young lady
So if that ain’t what you checking for when you checking me then check this I’m aight
This elect lady
Whose price is far above rubies remains content to be called solely
The waiting and preparing bride of Christ
I’m not sitting around idly
Waiting for someone to come by and wife me
I’m on my grind for the King
And I can’t entertain anything
That ain’t about the same
Not just in name,
but we gotta be able to walk together AGREED
Two people, One faith, One doctrine, One God, One plan, One mind, one goal, one road one need
So I hope you can see
It’s not that I don’t give romance a fair chance
Because the fact is
I’m quite the romantic
And I’m in a love affair with a love that’s rare
And I’m holding out for a love like His
